A yacht on a swinging mooring in grey weather

Yacht insurance broking · Southampton, placing at Lloyd's and in the company market

Read the exclusions
before the premium.

Every policy on the market looks similar until something happens. The differences are in the navigation limits, the crew warranty and what counts as wear — three clauses that decide whether a claim is paid, and none of which appear on a comparison table.

  • Exclusions summarised in plain English
  • We handle the claim, not a call centre
  • Commission disclosed on request

What we cover

The sections that actually differ between policies

Indicative premium

Roughly what it will cost

Premium is driven by the sum insured, where she goes and who is aboard. This gives an annual figure for hull and liability together, before any survey discount or claims history.

  • Hull and liability together
  • Agreed value basis
  • No fee for arranging cover

Indicative annual premium

Indicative only, with a floor of £950 a year. A firm quotation follows a proposal form and, above a certain age, a condition survey. Cover is arranged, not provided, by the broker.

How we work

What separates a policy that pays from one that argues

01

We summarise the exclusions first

One page, plain English, sent before the premium. If a policy will not cover single-handed passages or leaves the vessel uninsured east of Malta in December, you should know that while choosing rather than afterwards.

02

Agreed value, always

Market value policies are cheaper and settle a total loss at whatever a loss adjuster thinks she was worth. We will place one if you insist, and we will put the difference in writing first.

03

The person who placed it handles the claim

They already have the survey, the schedule and the photographs. Every month a claim spends being re-explained to somebody new is a month the boat is not repaired.

04

We will tell you to stay put

Renewing with the incumbent is sometimes the right answer, particularly mid-claim. Moving a policy for a small saving while a claim is open is how people lose both.

A surveyor examining a yacht hull ashore in grey weather

“Cheapest quote I had excluded single-handed passages, which is most of my sailing, and nobody else mentioned it. They sent a one-page summary of what each policy would not pay for. It cost me four hundred pounds more and it is the right policy.”

About this page

Everything above is a demonstration

The business, the listings and the reviews are invented — this page exists to show what someone could put on yachtinsurer.com. The domain itself is genuinely for sale.

Domain for sale

yachtinsurer.com is available

You are looking at a demonstration, not a real business. We built it to show what this domain could carry — the company, the stock and the reviews are invented.

  1. 1

    Make an enquiry

Tell us who you are and what you would use it for. It costs nothing and puts you under no obligation.

  2. 2

    Agree a price

We reply with a price or consider your offer. Most conversations are settled within a couple of working days.

  3. 3

    Pay into escrow

Funds go to a licensed third-party escrow agent, never straight to us. They hold the money until the transfer is confirmed.

  4. 4

    Take ownership

We push the authorisation code to your registrar. You control the domain, usually within a week; escrow then releases the funds.

The demonstration site is not part of the sale by default — but if you want it, say so in your enquiry and we will include the source.
